Aligned with the ambitions of the Paris Agreement on Climate and the respective intervention mandates of BOAD and AFD, the purpose of this project implemented by Cowater International was to contribute to the development of resilient and low- carbon economic models in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) zone, by densifying and reorienting investment flows towards the financing of projects with low greenhouse gas emissions and resilient to the effects of climate change.
The BOAD-AFD partnership on climate finance aims to: support BOADs mandate and activities in the implementation of its “Environment and Climate” strategy, to densify the flows available for the financing of a low-carbon and resilient economy in the WAEMU zone and promote the main principles and mechanisms of climate finance in the WAEMU zone and, more broadly, across African.
