Human Resources for Health

The “Human Resources for Health” project was undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada provided through Global Affairs Canada (GAC). The initiative improved the quality of nursing education and services and addressed the shortage of skilled birth attendants by supporting government strategies to: (a) produce skilled and competent nurses; (b) improve quality assurance in nursing education and efficient management of nursing services; and (c) increase the number of trained Community Skilled Birth Attendants to improve the maternal and neonatal health status of the poor. The project operated in partnership with Plan Canada, McMaster University School of Nursing and the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing.
