Developing the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Water Pillar

This Technical Assistance project will support the development of the CAREC water pillar, with an emphasis on economic aspects and sustainable financing of water resources management. The TA is aligned with ADB’s Strategy 2030, particularly for the operational priorities that involve (i) tackling climate change, building climate and disaster resilience, and enhancing environmental sustainability; (ii) fostering regional cooperation and integration. The proposed initiatives developed under the CAREC water pillar will be suitable for broader application to the entire CAREC region. The work is about preparing prefeasibility studies for 3 regional water resources development projects in Central Asia including preliminary technical design, climate change assessments, institutional and implementation arrangements as well as environmental and social analysis, and as the sole consultant, Cowater provides the entire expert team.
