Cowater, together with the Government of the Bahamas, launches a new initiative to strengthen public financial management

Funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Cowater International and its partner, Ecorys UK, will shortly launch a project to support the Government of the Commonweatlh of the Bahamas (GoBH) in the modernization of its financial management systems. The project will reform the public financial management (PFM) and human resources management (HRM) systems, as well as evaluate and implement a wide variety of supporting policies, standards and procedures. The overall objective being the more effective use of resources to deliver important services to the people of the Bahamas.

As Canada’s leader in supporting public financial management and accountability reforms internationally, Cowater will provide technical assistance and expertise in the areas of PFM and HRM to the Government of the Bahamas as they undertake this key initiative. Working closely together, activities performed will result in a robust and fully functioning Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) and Human Resource Management/Payroll System (HRMIS).

The project will begin in September 2018 and is set to finish in February 2021.
