Cowater selected by the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative as the Validator for the 2018 EITI Validations

May 28, 2018

Cowater is proud to announce it has been selected by the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative as the Validator for the 2018 EITI Validations. Adopted by 51 countries, EITI is the leading multi-stakeholder initiative for transparency and accountability in the extractives sector. Countries that participate in the Initiative commit to publishing reliable data on their sector, including tax revenue and beneficial ownership of companies. EITI is critical to reducing the space for corrupt practices in the extractives sector. EITI regularly evaluates countries’ compliance with its standards, and our team will ensure this process is done fairly and accurately.

This project underscores Cowater’s world-class expertise in extractive industries governance and our commitment to the sustainable governance in the sector. This will be our seventh ongoing project in this field, including our Global Affairs Canada PASIE programme, a US$14.8m project focused on government accountability in the extractives sector in francophone Africa.
