Public Accountability and Women’s Participation in Mali (RPPFM)
Sub-Saharan Africa - Mali
Cowater implemented this Global Affairs Canada-funded, CAD 9.9 million, project (2018-2022) focused on improving the socio-economic well-being of women and girls through improved gender-responsive delivery of public services in Mali. Cowaters approach to achieving this objective is centered around three key pillars. The first pillar was enhancing government oversight in the implementation of gender-sensitive policies and programs in Mali by strengthening the capacity of the Office of the Auditor General to conduct audits in accordance with international standards on gender and environmental topics, produce more user-friendly audit reports, and develop strategic partnerships with civil society organizations. The second pillar focused on strengthening anti-corruption practices by working with the Ministry of Justice to strengthen their capacity to conduct gender-sensitive investigations and collect misappropriated funds. The third pillar increased mobilizations of citizens and civil society organizations, especially women and youth, to hold the government more accountable.
